I need a moment. Maybe a little longer than a moment.
Today is truly a sad day. A sad day.
There have been rumors for weeks. Months. But, today it became official. Today, it became real.
Today, Peyton Manning was released from the Indianapolis Colts. Peyton Manning will no longer pull on that blue #18 jersey to represent the lovely city of Indianapolis from Lucas Oil Stadium. He’ll play somewhere else next year, sure, but he will no longer be a Colt. What am I supposed to do with my blue, #18 jersey?
I don’t care if you’re not a Colts fan. I don’t care if you’re not even a football fan. Today, the greatest quarterback was released from his home after 14 wonderful seasons. I don’t care who you are. I don’t care about the reasons. I don’t care if it paved the way for the Colts to draft Andrew Luck as their new quarterback with their #1 pick. I don’t care if it was the right thing to do. None of that makes what happened today any less sad.
Have you seen the press conference? Seeing a grown man get all emotional…I just, can’t. I can’t handle that.
Today is a sad day.
Let’s all take a moment of silence.
